GJ - Day4

My plan for this day was to 

MAKE A COLONY THAT WORKS 
&
TRY TO HAVE ALL BEFORE THE ROBOTS DIES.

the day before this, since i didn't make all, the robot dead and I couldn't produce it ( I think)

first I made size 4 solar panel, so I wont run out of power.
Then, made water.
And made size 4 wind power so when the solar panel doesnt work, I thought it will produce same amount as solar panel.

made air lock, bio dorm, dorm, canteen

I thought there wasn't enough oxygen so I made another pack of energy sources, oxygen generator and water generator.

I made a port because I wanted more colonist. Since one died because of the meteorite.

However, I did not know there was a trading ship.

I didn't know I needed to make resources.

luckily, the colony ship came to the port and i got a couple of new colonists.

Then next problem occurred that, I wanted to make other structures but no body was working.  I was wondering why.

the sand storm came and  I regretted that i didn't make a big power tank.

While the sand storm was coming, I thought maybe I need to erase the structure so the colonists won't get confused.  So I deleted the ones which were  not made except mine to make some resources.

Then they started to make it, so I learned a new thing.

Now, I started to build the structure to produce metal.

But I needed more metal to build them so I erased the port since i thought i wont need it for a while.

The mine and the another air lock was build. 

finally I had the structures in place.

After that, some people went into the mine and started to make the ore.  After that they went  to the factory and made metal. 

At last the sand storm came and the class finished.

GJ - Day 3

As soon as I start making my colony, i died.

I have forgotten the basic to start the game.

I placed,

1 oxygen, 1 air lock, 1 power tank, 2 solar panel 

however, I didn't know that it will be dark.

When it started to become dark, solar panel wasn't working.

Eventually, oxygen lacked and colonists died.

So I thought I should go back to the tutorial and learn the basic.

This was how it started so next game I did the exact same thing but adding wind power so I won't lose energy.

so this was how it was like. However, people started to be sleepy so I made a dorm as soon as possible.

since everyone was tired, I made 2 beds.

After getting settled, i made a bio dorm to make food,

I choose potato to get energy and I thought I will need medicine so I also planted medicine.

Next I started to run out power so I made another wind power.

People started to become unhappy and forgot that I did't make a meal cooker.

Then I remember that I need a different dorm to use the medical plant so I planted tomato because I was lacking food.

But they were still unhappy. ( Now I know, I forgot to place TV and a table.)

Then storm came. Then I thought I should of  make power tank because the wind powers were moving a lot.

The storm came for a long time.

After storm went I realized nobody was working outside.

I realized that my bots were outside and they stopped moving.

And the class ended.

I thought next time, first I should make all the basics. Before starting something different.

For example, I made a port, however it was unnecessary for my colony that time.

GJ- Day 2

Let's try the Tutorial

In this tutorial, there is no freedom.

It force you what to do. However, it forces in a positive way.

It teaches you how to start the game step by step.

Let's see what it's like.

first, this tutorial didn't give us an opportunity to choose which planet. The ship landed and 7 people, two robots landed on the planet.
At the beginning, it works on how to change the angle of the visual.

To pan the camera, use WASD key or place the mouse at the edge of the screen.

To rotate the camera, use the QE key　or drag the middle mouse button.

   

  This part talks about the structure of colony ship that it only has limited supplies so need to think what to make.

As this pop up box, it comes out each topic. It gives you information of each things.

After you click “ok” in the box, at the left top, there will be a yellow arrow which directs you what you should do. As I said, there is no freedom, therefore you will need to click on to the things what they want you to click. I thought it is really kind that as you see the yellow circle in the middle, it says “place structure: Oxygen Generator – Pending” It always comes up if you did it are not.

After clicking the yellow circle on the previous picture, now you can choose which structure you want to place ( but here, you need to listen to the directions…)

Now, the structure you want to place will come out. So, since it is a tutorial, it already assigned where to place. Drag it in to the place. In the white circle, it says “use mouse wheel or RF keys" to change the size” I’m assuming that this will be an important tips to play this game.

You can speed the game by clicking the button in the white circle or press + key to do so. You can speed up until ×4

And an important fact, you will need to connect the facilities if you need to. For example, where people will be walking will need oxygen so you will need to connect to the oxygen generator directly or indirectly. In this picture, we will need to connect solar panel and water extractor to produce water by using the energy collected by solar panel. To connect them, just click both facilities one by one and there will be a mark like the one on the left 
so click it and it will be connected.

Now, you will start placing objects in the dorm. To do that, first click the dorm which you will place objects in .

Then the dorm will be surrounded by a line. On the top left there will be a place to click.

Then you can choose the objects to place. If you cannot place, the object will become red. If you want to speed the game remember you can by pressing + key.

Sometimes, you will want to know what is going on inside the dorm. To see inside press tab key or menu button.

Tadaaaa the top disappeared. To put it back, do the same thing.

In this tutorial, you will be recycling the colony ship. If you click on the ship, there will be a button to recycle it.

If you recycle the ship, all the stuff will be out which is not safe. So, first we will build a Mine to store them.

After this, you will be building bio- dorm, factory, medical dorm and at last a port for another ships to land.

After completing these it is done for the tutorial.

Time to move on to your own colony.

GJ - Day 1 - Reveal

In the game "Planetbase" you will establish many different kinds of facility and connect facilities together.

For the colonists and to run the base, you will need to secure resources such as oxygen, food and water.  You will install solar panels and collect electric power, plant vegetables in Bio-Dome, and collect air from oxygen generator. Doing those, you will expand the base and eventually build a colony which many colonists live in.

In this game, the management of distributions and colonists will be the key.  There are AI robots called "Carried Bot" which will carry the  materials.  To make a distribution for them, you will need to think the best place to establish the facilities and to make the path.  Produce materials, AI robots, space suits and so on and manage to have them be passed to the colonists.  

There are 4 kinds of colonists ; workers which are good at mining and moving machines, engineers which are good at building and repairing buildings, biologists who works on planting foods and  medic who maintain the health of colony.  It will be important how to work them will.  However, it will impossible to operate the colonists individually, they move automatically according to the facilities which are build.

  In this game, you will need to survives disasters such as meteors, sandstorms or solar flares. Moreover, there are three kinds of planets, desert planets, frozen planets, gas glant moon. The goal for this game is to go over the challenges on each planets and establish a colony in a new planet.

Spring Break

For spring break, I went back to Japan. The day after I arrived to Tokyo, I went to my high school to attend the graduation ceremony and to see my friends. Thinking that was my last time to see everyone at one place, it made me a little sad. After that day, I hung out with my friends. Some people, i haven't see them for awhile so it was a precious time for me.  For last one week, I went to Taiwan with my best friend and my brother. That trip was the first time to pay all from my payment so it was kind of special for me. Not only that, it was my first time to go on a vacation without my parents so I was really excited. We ate a lot and had some new experiences. Since the schedule was tight I was very tired at last but it was one of my exciting spring break I ever had.

Shocker Yamada - Flash story

 Shockers.  That’s the name of them.　　They all have the same mask when they fight for their boss.  However, even they all look the same, they all have their own lives.  Today, let me introduce one of the shockers Yamada’s story.  He has a wife and two kids, a boy and a girl.  He met his wife when they were in university.  They both fell in love in first sight as it was a fate.  After dating for one year, they married.   Eventually, they became parents of two children.  Yamada's parents were against him but he couldn’t find any other job, so he couldn’t help being a shocker.  He knew it isn’t right to work under a boss who is bad.  However, to support his own family, he didn’t care how dangerous it was and he was ready for everything.  To his kids he said, 

“Daddy have to protect humans’ lives “ 

 He was lying to them but he was more afraid that they will know what he was really doing outside.   

  

One day, same as usual, his boss texted his shockers.  They were told to be ready at ten so that they can leave their office at 10:30 to the central park.  Yamada got ready and told his wife that we will get going to his work.  She hoped for his safe home and gave him a kiss.  He left without saying anything to the kids. 

  

 He arrived to the place where he had to go to meet up with his boss.  There were already many people.  Since everyone wears the same mask, everyone looked the same.  That day’s mission was at the park.  He had a bad feeling.  He remember his kids telling him last night, they will go to the park.  He hoped that the worse thing won’t happen. 

 His boss told them their duties for that day.  They had to get the diamond for their money.  They were lacking budgets for their activities.  Their boss found a good thing that can make a lot of money and that was the diamond.  However, that diamond is in the museum which is in the park. 

 They started to head to the park.  Since they don’t have that much money left, they only took two cabs and push all the people in there.  It was hot and disgusting in there, but they bared it.  Yamada was just worried about his kids.  After one hour drive, they arrived to the park.  Their plan was to go into the park and have all the citizens to get away from there.  After that, they will get into the museum and get the diamond and run away.  The only problem is that once the citizen let the rangers know about them, they have to start fighting with them.  Moreover, if they lose they cannot get the diamond.  Since these days, they don’t have enough money, they really have to win. 

 As soon as the cabs arrived to the park, they ran out to the park all at once.  Yamada was so anxious that he fell down when he was going out from the cab.  He thought he cannot concentrate well with this situation.  First shockers and the boss went to the east park where there are so many families and couples.  Most of the people who comes to the park are here, so they decided to get rid of people here.   

“Get away from here!! Go!!” 

With that word, shockers ran to the people and scared them.  People got scared and started to run.  Some shockers used water and start splashing to the people and they became confused.  After they thought people were gone, they moved to the sunny park.  At there, it shocked Yamada.  He saw his two kids.  He was so confused what to do.  People knew shockers are bad so if he directly help his kids, he thought it is dangerous for both his children and himself.  He thought for a while.  The his teammate shouted at him. 

“Hey you! Move! What are you doing there!!” 

None of his words were coming into his head.  He was too confused what to do.  However, while we was thinking what he should do, his body started to move by itself and fighting with the other shockers.  They were surprised and first thought he had lost his mind and became insane.  After all, they started to realize that he was serious about what he was doing.  Yamada also started to understand what he is doing and started to fight with shockers for real.  He did feel sorry to them because he have been working with them for a long time and they were like his second family but he has his real family which he had to protect.  Although he was getting hurt, he was one of the most skilled shockers so he knocked down the other shockers. 

“Sorry.” He said it in his mind.  He knew that his boss will soon know about this and then he would need to fight with his boss.  He looked up the sun and laughed.   

  

 He turned around his face to his kids.  He took off his mask off. They were shocked and couldn’t say a word.  Of course, who can believe his own dad is working under a bad guy.  His daughter  was literally crying.  Yamada bent his knee down and whispered to his son.   

“I know you are confused that I’m a bad guy, and I cannot explain this to you now but I can tell you one thing.  Protecting people who you love is being a hero of them.”  

His son nodded and Yamada gave him a smile. 

  

 He sighed. But right after that he smiled. 

“I will never give up.  This is my BUSHIDO!!”
